Australian Food Delivery App ‘Eat Appy’ acquired by Foodhub

Foodhub has struck a multi-million pound deal to acquire the Australian food delivery service eat appy.The acquisition is part of Foodhub’s bid to increase its international footprint.

Foobhub is a Stoke-onTrent Company. It was founded in 2017 by Ardian Mula and Mohammed Shakil. Last year, the app was launched in the USA, Mexico, Guatemala, Ireland and New Zealand. As part of their global expansion plans for 2021, Foodhub is now available to users in Autralia.

The Foodhub is an online marketplace for a wide range of restaurants and food delivery services. The app is a direct competitor to similar services like Deliveroo and Just Eats.

Eat Appy was launched in 2016. It provides food pick up and delivery services along with table ordering and room service. It is one of Australia’s biggest online ordering platforms.

The acquisition will allow both Eat Appy and Foodhub to reach a wider consumer base. Foodhub will also be able to expand the menu and takeaways available on their platform.

Talking about the deal, Foodhub’s Chief Financial Officer, Mohamed Chaudry said, “The acquisition of Eat Appy significantly increases our global footprint, our number of delivery partners and our pool of hungry customers. This business move is the largest Foodhub acquisition to date and shows our commitment to international growth, despite a year of uncertainty for many.”

Co-founder and CEO of Foodhub, Ardian Mula spoke about the company’s recent growth, “This is an incredibly exciting time for Foodhub. The platform has allowed our takeaway partners to meet the surge in demand over the last year whilst ensuring they don’t lose a penny of the profits to commission. We’re passionate about rolling this innovative model out globally, so to have acquired such a key player in the Australian market means we are in the perfect position to do this.”

Foodhub has seen a 66% growth in orders this past year when compared to the numbers pre-lockdown. The company has also announced that they will open a new contact center at their headquarters on Duke Street in Fenton. The center will create 14 new jobs.

According to research by Roy Morgan, the number of Australians aged 14+ who use meal delivery services has increased from 1.98 million in mid-2018 to 4 million in 20201. Indicating that there is increased demand among consumers for food delivery services. A postivie sign for companies like Foodhub and Eat Appy.
