The longstanding protective service official's retirement from the government was disclosed in a public statement by the Secret Service. The relocation of Murray to the private sector was first reported by The Washington Post on Thursday, just after the Secret Service made the announcement. Next month, Murray will begin his employment at Snap, the parent company of Snapchat, and will report directly to Evan Spiegel, the business's CEO and co-founder.

Pete Boogaard, a spokeswoman for Snap, was quoted as saying in a statement to The Verge that the company is "thrilled to welcome Jim Murray to Snap" and that they "look forward to his joining our team on August 1st."

According to Snap, in his new capacity, Murray will assist ensure the safety and security of workers at Snap. He will collaborate with law enforcement when required to carry out these responsibilities.

Murray: A Force To Reckon

While carrying out the agency's "integrated mission of providing protection to senior elected leaders and investigating crimes targeting our financial infrastructure," Murray successfully navigated "the unique challenges presented by the historic COVID-19 pandemic," according to a statement that the Secret Service released on Thursday. The statement praised Murray for his work.

The organization's job to ensure the well-being of US presidents, other high-ranking officials, and the presidents' families is what brings it the majority of its notoriety. However, over the course of the last few weeks, agents from the Secret Service have been brought into the investigation that was launched on January 6 by the House of Representatives into the role that former President Donald Trump allegedly had in encouraging disturbances at the United States Capitol.

"Jim represents the notion of service above self," Vice President Joe Biden said of Murray in a statement that was released on Thursday. "Jim safeguarded the families of U.S. Presidents as if they were part of his own," Biden said. We owe him an immense debt of gratitude for the service he has provided to both our nation and our family.
